Wounda, a female chimpanzee nursed back to health from the brink of death by veterinarian Rebeca Atencia and researcher Jane Goodall at the Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitatio…n Center in the Republic of Congo, took a moment to thank her human friends before venturing back into the wild. Wounda was at the Goodall Institute for years while recovering from a serious illness. Recently released video shows the chimp’s release. Before departing, she stopped, turned and hugged Jane Goodall.
