Last month, one of our senior patients, a 15 year old dachshund, came in for his routine semi-annual visit. His annual heartworm/tick disease test found him to be positive for Lyme disease. Mom and Dad hadn’t really noticed any specific sym…ptoms when we found that test result, but they just called back to report their little old man is acting like a young kid again after his month long course of treatment! Once again, we were reminded that many older dogs aren’t just “slowing down” due to age, but have a treatable/manageable cause
