According to the American Veterinary of Animal Behavior and modern research, it’s BEFORE the puppy vaccination series is completed!! “In general, puppies can start puppy socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age. Puppies should receive a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first deworming. They should… be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class.”

Pet parents (including kitten families!!) should be sure to work on socialization outside of class, too. Visit friends with your puppy/kitten, and make sure to schedule play-dates with vaccinated and WELL-BEHAVED adults pets. Make sure every new experience is a positive one, and you’ll be well on your way to a having a well-adjusted, happy BFF
