The Preventive Care Plan for Puppies covers your puppy’s initial wellness needs with some amazing membership perks. Members receive medical exams at no cost and a 10% discount on most products and services outside of the Plan. Puppy Plans last six months.
The plan includes up to three wellness exams and consultations, the initial vaccination series, an intestinal parasite screen, broad-spectrum deworming, and an initial dose of a parasite preventative.
Examination
Our veterinarian will examine your puppy from nose to tail for any abnormalities. We will assess his overall appearance. Your puppy’s heart and lungs will be listened to for irregularities. His eyes, ears, nose, and mouth will be evaluated as well.
Consultation
You will discuss socialization, nutrition, potty training, and other basic puppy care with our veterinarian. You also have a chance to ask questions and address any other concerns you may have.
Vaccinations
The Preventive Care Plan for Puppies includes vaccinations preventing distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus-2, parainfluenza, rabies, bordetella, and leptospirosis.
The distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus-2/parainfluenza combination vaccine will be administered at your puppy’s initial visit and boostered every 3 weeks until his last visit at 16 weeks of age. Your puppy will also be vaccinated against rabies at his 16-week visit.
A Bordetella vaccination will be administered orally at his 13-week visit to protect puppies that will be in higher risk situations like grooming or boarding facilities, dog parks, or around other dogs.
Leptospirosis vaccines are recommended for any puppy that will go outside. We generally administer this vaccine at 13 weeks then booster at the 16-week visit. Other vaccines may be discussed to protect your puppy against other diseases like Lyme or Canine Influenza based on his lifestyle and can be added on to the Plan.
Intestinal Parasite Screen
An intestinal parasite screen is included in our Plans. Intestinal parasites are common in dogs. They can cause a wide range of symptoms, including diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, and anemia. Some types of parasites, including roundworms and hookworms, can be transmitted from dogs to humans. Routine testing and monthly treatment protects your dog, as well as you and your family!
Broad-Spectrum Deworming
At his initial visit, a dose of broad-spectrum deworming suspension will be given to your puppy to safely and effectively treat infestations of hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, and whipworms.
Simparica Trio
Your puppy will be given an initial dose of Simparica Trio. Simparica Trio is a once-a-month chewable that protects your puppy against heartworm disease, ticks, fleas, roundworms, and hookworms. To continue protection from these parasites after the initial dose, you can purchase 6 or 12 monthly doses from us. Simparica Trio is eligible for the 10% discount provided by the plan. You are also eligible for rewards from the manufacturer, Zoetis, with a purchase of 6 or 12 doses.
