When is the best time to socialize your puppy?

According to the American Veterinary of Animal Behavior and modern research, it’s BEFORE the puppy vaccination series is completed!! “In general, puppies can start puppy socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age. Puppies should receive a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first deworming. They should… be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class.”

Pet parents (including kitten families!!) should be sure to work on socialization outside of class, too. Visit friends with your puppy/kitten, and make sure to schedule play-dates with vaccinated and WELL-BEHAVED adults pets. Make sure every new experience is a positive one, and you’ll be well on your way to a having a well-adjusted, happy BFF
